Chateau Cheval Blanc 1964, 99 points, pictured below next to the runner up the 1966. Both magnificent the 1966 had a slight high toned note, which meant that the 1964 just edged it by a nose.
These two were the highlights in a stunning line up of Cheval Blanc wines up to and including the 1990 vintage, which also showed very strongly as did the 1985. This dinner was held at La Trompette in Chiswick, and these two wines from the mid-1960s were so good they brought a tear to my eye, the second time I cried that week after I lost Twizzler two days earlier. Twizzler pictured five days before he passed away.
